Aunt
Karen's apartment building. The
limbs were cut from the treess across the street.

(Formerly)
Brand new car wash
building.

One
of the fallen trees across the
street from Aunt Karen's.

Vicky's
broken window and roof damage.

Pastor
Kent's house from back.

View
from Aunt Karen's apartment.

This
is the road that goes by Aunt
Karen's apartment building.

Truck
and trailer that we are using.
This pic was a few blocks away from Aunt Karen's apartment building.

The other 20mph shot.

Blown over fence with brick posts.

Two wrecked carports. I'm not sure if
the house was already under construction or if the siding was actually
blown off.

I'm pretty sure this is worse than
living in a glass house. This shot was taken just behind Aunt Karen's
apartment building.

This is the extent of the damage in
Aunt Karen's apartment. The kitchen took on water through a leak in the
ceiling.

A block away from the apartment were
3 identical houses being built. The frames for all 3 were completely
destroyed.

Another angle of the 3 destroyed
house frames.
This is another view of the 3 downed houses.
Did I forget to mention that if you're needing some spare
lumber, you now know where to find it?

There's
something missing in this
picture. Hint: "All Way"

Picture
of the trailer after being
packed.

Picture
of the pickup after being
packed.

That's not one, but two fences blown
over. Those are demo fences to show off what good work the guy does.
Katrina was unimpressed.

The "good" McDonalds in the West bank
now caters to toddlers. It's not known why there are options other than
Happy Meals on the menu.

Another
angle of the destroyed car
wash. "Don't build a car wash on the sandy land. Don't build it too
near the shore...

Well,
it might be kinda nice, but
you'll have to build it twice. Oh, you'll have to build the car wash
once more."

It looks like these power poles got a
little tired.

Who
knew that leaning was contagious?
Did I get immunized for that as a kid? Now that I think about it,
perhaps I contracted it long ago.

Woah. These power poles just flat out
gave up. Is this the final result of the leaning disease?

You know... I feel tired, too. I
think it's time for a nap.

Whatever this used to be is modern
art now.

One
note I'm reminded of. Where we
drove, we saw no signs of looting, although the police were definitely
looking out for it.

Insurance
adjuster: "What damaged
this car?"
Honest Bob: "Umm, you're not going to believe it, but the American
Flag. Honest."

This
is the "bad" McDonalds. Rumor
has it that it could have already looked like this.

Fence
down on the side of Lapalco

Perhaps
this is Katrina's way of
suggesting putting a driveway in the backyard.

This neighborhood doesn't believe
that good fences make good neighbors.

Military convoy. Unfortunately, they
didn't accept my offer for a test drive.

The destruction on the corner of
Manhatten and Lapalco.

Apartment complex missing part of its
second story.

Closer view of the damaged apartments.

Different part of the same apartments.

More of the damaged apartments
This house sustained heavy damage.
Tearing down the walls that divide us.
This part successfully weathered the storm.
This part didn't.
Unfortunately, it got even worse next door.
If you aren't yet invested in STIHL, now is the time.
My sources say the vegetation used to make the road back
there nearly invisible. Oh, and what's the point of a stop sign
at a dead end?
Ouch. That's going to leave a mark.
I figure there's a vine/wine joke here somewhere, but I'll
leave that to the viewer..
The sound of helicopters in the air is almost constant.
Regularly, there were 2 or more helicopters nearby heading somewhere.
This picture was taken when we mistakenly drove into
St. Tammany Parish.
The Hobby Lobby in Hammond, LA had just moved from the
building next door (not pictured).
This is a church building that had nearly completed construction.
The only noticeable damage was to the roof and palm trees.
This building lose some ceiling tiles and had these windows
blown out.
Even if there were gas to sell, it wouldn't be sold here.
This house was pretty wasted.
The real question here is which end is (was) up.
This McDonalds in Jefferson Parish won't be serving burgers
for several weeks, but at least it uses its power wisely.
It seems likely that this roof is considerably more functional
when it's on hte top of the building.
Another shot of the wasted roof.
More power lines and trees down everywhere.
These tanks had the aluminum siding and insulation removed
and blown away. We found insulation as far away as 3 blocks.
